Motorcycle makers showcased cheaper and more fuel-efficient models at the nation’s premier motorcycle show, as the industry tries to navigate a tough road of crippled consumer confidence and tighter access to credit that are weighing on sales.

The companies sought to drown out the gloomy news with the revved engines of 600 bikes from more than 250 exhibitors at the International Motorcycle Show, which ran through Sunday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

“We’re definitely seeing where manufacturers are taking advantage of the smaller motorcycles in their lineup, the motorcycles that don’t get the kind of attention when things are sort of economically strong,” said show spokesman Robert Pandya. “We’re seeing motorcycles coming in that were originally designed for other markets that, because of people’s consciousness for fuel economy and ease of getting around, are all of a sudden finding a home in the U.S.”

Motorcycle sales tend to take a beating when the economy slows, and sales industrywide fell 2.2 percent in the third quarter of 2008, according to the Motorcycle Industry Council. In 2007, sales ended a 14-year growth streak by falling 6 percent.

In October, the top-selling U.S. motorcycle company, Harley-Davidson Inc., cut its 2008 sales forecast to between 303,500 and 306,000 motorcycles, down from 330,619 in 2007. The Milwaukee company is scheduled to report fourth-quarter earnings on Jan. 23, and analysts widely expect it to report that profit for the full-year declined from 2007.

A Hawk helmet is the best protective gear you can wear while riding a motorcycle. A helmet will not only protect your head from a potential injury, but also cut down on wind noise, windblast on your face and eyes, and deflect bugs and other debris that flies through the air. It will also protect you from changing weather conditions and reduce rider fatigue.

Last but not least, wearing a Hawk helmet is a reflection of your attitude toward riding and shows that you are a responsible rider who takes motorcycle riding seriously.

The expected turn around time from one Hawk helmet to another is three years (or a crash). If you have a crash, be sure to throw the Hawk helmet out and replace it. If you have the same helmet for three years be sure to get a new Hawk then as well.

There are a number of different Hawk available. Hybrid helmets allow you to slide the chin part of the Hawk helmet upwards. It’s useful for people who wear glasses or bifocals. Open faced Hawk helmets (also known as three quarter helmets) protect the ears and side of the face, but offers no chin protection.

Any responsible motorcycle rider knows that wearing a helmet is one of the important things that must come alongside safe driving. Although you are gearing for protection, it is quite important to note that price alone is not indicative of your safety on the road. If branded helmets can be somewhat expensive for you, there are discount motorcycle helmets you can choose from which are still at par when it comes to providing safety while driving.

You can find all kinds of discount motorcycle helmets online!

It is quite obvious that a rider is exposed to crash situations once he gets on his motorcycle. Most death cases are usually due to head injuries, and this occurs when a rider is without a helmet on. Wearing a helmet could have prevented severe damage on the head as it can greatly absorb the force caused by an impact. But then again, against tragic stories of motorcycle accidents, a lot of people still refuse to understand the simple rule of wearing a helmet during any ride. This is one simple rule for safety, but it has indeed attracted different governments to pass laws which would require all riders to use helmets.

A trike is a motorized three wheeled vehicle, often with an appearance closer to a motorcycle than to a car. These machines have increased in popularity in recent years, being seen as an excellent alternative to motorbikes. There are strict definitions of what most owners think of a trike as being. A motorcycle with a sidecar is not, for instance, seen as being one, despite the fact that it has three wheels. Real trikes are usually custom made, often involving using a car engine as the power source. A popular engine that is used is one taken from a Volkswagen Beetle. Such an engine will give a three wheeled vehicle just the right amount of acceleration and speed.

One reason has been that they are seen as a more stable alternative to a motorcycle. This makes them perfect for those with stability problems – this form of vehicle provides the thrill of riding a two wheeled machine, with the increased feeling of safety provided by that extra wheel. Another important development has been in the way that the machines look. Specialist firms have been keen to spruce up their trike designs, producing machines that look great, as well as offering the expected performance levels.

There’s a whole culture that goes with riding these machines too. That culture places trike owners in the same bracket as motorcycle owners, distinct from those of us who drive cars and other four wheeled vehicles. Indeed, there are regular get togethers in the UK where bikers and trike owners meet. As with other forms of transport, there are environmental concerns surrounding the three wheelers. Some manufacturers are looking to ease such worries by attempting to produce more environmentally friendly models. Whether such models gain popularity will be interesting. One thing is for certain – trike owners will continue to enjoy the experience of riding these unique vehicles.

Trike motorcycles are a unique but popular alternative vehicle. They run on 3 wheels hence the ‘tri’ part of the name. Trike motorcycles come in 2 formats mostly. 2 wheels at the back (known as the delta configuration) with 1 wheel at the front. Or 2 wheels at the front and one at the back, which is known as the Tadpole design. The tadpole design are less common and harder to engineer. Due to the centrifugal forces when turning they don’t tend to be balanced well either, so it is normally professional companies which tackle that design. Delta style is much more popular for home built custom trikes.

A home built trike traditionally has a motorcycle front end (motorcycle forks, 1 wheel, 1 headlamp, fork suspension) and a custom rear end often modified from a small car chassis, to include 2 rear wheels, bench style seat and appropriate suspension. A trike motorcycle does not have a roof (like a Reliant Robin) and is not a motorcycle with a sidecar. There is often confusion in defining 3 wheeled vehicles, but you usually recognize a trike when you see one as the are quite different to other 3 wheeled vehicles.

Trikes are not sold in mass numbers because they have a fair amount of negative points about them. Both compared to a car and a motorcycle. Motorcycles are out in the open, which feels nice, but leaves the rider vulnerable compared to a car where you are protected inside a large metal box. A trike is similar to a motorcycle in this respect. Because they do not lean to turn like a motorcycle they are usually a bit more stable though so often riders will not have a motorcycle helmet riding them. Cars have a disadvantage of being large and therefore can not squeeze through traffic jams like a motorcycle. Because of one half of a trike having a 2 wheeled base, they also sport this disadvantage. As such Trikes will probably stay off the mainstream and kept being owned and made by eccentric enthusiasts who want something a bit different and to stand out from the crowd.

Motorcycle insurance is defined as the insurance of motorcycles and liabilities arising out of the use thereof. Motorcycle insurance is a way of sharing the risks of driving between you and your insurance company. Motorcycle insurance is one of these things you need to worry about… You need insurance to ride a bike. Insurance is not only a sound judgment, but also required by law. Motorcycle insurance is one of those annual bills that there really is no escaping. The insurance coverage helps pay for financial losses or obligations resulting from the use or ownership of your motorcycle.

Motorcycle insurance is specifically designed to give customers the coverage they need giving them peace of mind out on the open road. The purpose of motorcycle insurance is to protect you from financial loss if you have an mishap while driving your motorcycle.

Your motorcycle insurance is really a contract between you the policyholder and the motorcycle insurance company. The best way to make sure you’re getting the cheapest possible motorcycle insurance is to do your homework. Of course, not all policies are the same and the key thing to remember before buying any type of motorcycle insurance is to always get several quotes, compare the cover, then choose the policy that best suits you and the particular motorcycle you want to insure.

The first step in purchasing motorcycle insurance is to contact your agent or broker with whom you currently have auto or home insurance. In any case it is worth getting a quote as it is also perfectly possible that you will be pleasantly surprised at how affordable the motorcycle insurance is. If you have a clean licence and are older, then the cost of the motorcycle insurance is likely to be lower.

Cheap motorcycle insurance is possible and with the increasing number of insurance agencies mushrooming all over the country, the cost has steadily declined thanks to the increase in competition; insurance agencies are constantly vying with one another to offer the best and cheapest motorcycle insurance rates.

Insurance is a must for all motorcycles. Insurance rates vary, taking into account several factors such as the model of the bike and the owner s age, address, training, bike security, and driving history, besides others.

When motorcycle parts are damaged, we will have to pay a lot towards getting it repaired. The rate of motorcycle parts will be so high that we will not be able to afford it. When things are got done, we will be fed up of the rate closing to the motorcycle’s current value that we paid towards it. It is here that we can go for used motorcycle parts for repairing them.

Used motorcycle parts have another great advantage over fresh parts that, they are easy to get. There are a few products which are taken away from the market by the manufacturer after a few years of the launch of the vehicle. In such cases, when the part is damaged, repairing will be extremely difficult. When you can search for used motorcycle parts for the part, it will be easy to get from other users who have it or from vehicles that are damaged due to other problems and can’t be used again.

Motorcycles and motorcycle racing has been a fascination for many men and women. Many people try to acquire motorcycle videos, clips, and movies for casual viewing. Motorcycle video clips have grown immensely in popularity. Video clips are smaller, streamed video segments having duration of less than fifteen minutes and are excerpted from larger videos. Video clips are streamed video segments and clippings, mostly having duration of less than fifteen minutes. Video clips are often excerpted from larger videos and show particular moments of significance or noteworthiness from the original video. Video clips are often sourced from news recordings, movies, music videos, and television serials. Video clips help budding camera operators, producers, and video developers to enhance their careers.

Video clips are classified into different categories based on their content. The category of motorcycle video clips features motorcycles in action. Motorcycle video clips are small, streamed videos of motorcycle maneuvers, motorcycle testing, new motorcycles, and motorcycle racing. The most common type of motorcycle video clips show overtaking maneuvers at popular grand prix races. Motorcycle video clips may also be based on testing performance of new motorcycles. They are used as promotional videos by top motorcycle companies for providing the target market with information about the features of their new bikes. Some motorcycle video clips also show motorcycle stunts and jump sequences that fascinate people. Some motorcycle clips are made to promote safe riding with the use of helmets and other riding gear. Most motorcycle video clips are streamed from motorcycle races shown on sports channels, home videos and videos made for motorcycle forums.
